Dr. Ramón Layera from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Miami University will give a
talk about the Usigli Archive housed at the Walter Havighurst Special Collections. A reception will

Guest Residency of distinguished Mexican director José Luis
Ibáñez
Professor Ibáñez, will spend three weeks as guest director at Miami. He teaches
acting,
dramatic theory and composition at the School of Letters of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de
México(UNAM). With a distinguished career in professional and university theater,
Ibáñez is on e of Mexico's most successful directors.
Prior to the arrival of Ibáñez, the Department of Theatre will conduct
preliminary
rehearsals for a public staged reading of Rodolfo Usigli's play the Impostor (English transtional by
Dr. Ramón Layera of El Gesticulador). Upon his arrival Ibáñez will work
with the cast
as director. He will offer public lectures in both English and Spanish, and conduct informal
discussions with the audience after each performance of the play.
Professor Ibáñez will
also
speak at the Friends of the Miami University Libraries meeting on Friday, November 11, 2005. For
